Destiny or Discipline: What truly Drives us towards success
By The Wordsmith journal & The Hidden Haiku
The Spark of Serendipity
In 1945, Percy Spencer, a self-taught engineer with no
formal education in science, was working on radar technology for the U.S.
military. One ordinary day in the lab, something extraordinary happened, he
noticed a chocolate bar in his pocket had melted while he stood near a
magnetron tube. Instead of brushing it off, Spencer got curious. He ran
experiments, placed popcorn kernels near the tube (which popped), then tried an
egg (which exploded), and slowly began to realize the power of microwave
radiation.
This accidental observation led us to the invention of
microwave.
This also makes us wonder— What if percy never never
observed this phenomenon or never gave much thought about it, we probably
wouldn't have microwaves.
Was it luck that led to this revolutionary discovery? Or was
it Spencer’s disciplined curiosity, his ability to notice the unusual and
pursue it relentlessly, that turned a melted candy bar into a billion-dollar
idea? This makes us question if destiny is decided, and if it is then what’s
the point of everything.
What They Never Told Us
We all love the idea of destiny, The unseen force guiding us
toward greatness,
that moment where everything just clicks and falls
into place.
It’s comforting to believe that success is written in the
stars, that some people are “meant” to do extraordinary things.
And it maybe true, sometimes we have unexpected
opportunities, or setbacks out of nowhere.
Opportunities may knock, but it is discipline and hard work
that open the door.
Sometimes, it’s not destiny that finds you, but your will
that forges it. Your hard work doesn’t wait for doors to open, it knocks, and
makes noise until it's heard.
This reminds me a quote from the bhagvat geeta—"When
a person acts with unshakable determination and resolute will, even the forces
of the universe begin to align in their favor. In the face of true resolve,
nothing remains impossible.”
One of the most powerful quotes from the geeta that
explains,
While divine will is one of the factors in the outcome, effort
and willpower are equally essential and necessary for things to work.
Built, Not Born
They say, “Jo likha hai, woh hoke rahega.”
I used to believe that. Until I didn’t.
See, in my experience, I've watched my life take shape not
by waiting, but by waking.
I didn’t wake up every day with motivation. I woke up with
responsibility to my name, to my art, to the silent fire within me.
In a world that moves fast and forgets faster, I chose to
remember.
Remember the sweat, the nights, the no’s, the numbness.
That’s where discipline lives in the unseen, uncelebrated
corners of your grind.
My Story still writing…
I’ve failed more times than I’ve succeeded.
But I’ve shown up every single time.
As a poet, a founder, a businessman, a dreamer.
PIXELLOOM wasn’t luck, Elysar’a isn’t magic.
They are the echoes of every night I stayed up learning,
fixing, creating.
They are not the children of destiny.
They are born of discipline.
Final Thought: The Harmony Between Destiny and Discipline
Destiny may place you at the right moment, but it is
discipline that prepares you to recognize it,
and courage that empowers you to act on it.
The universe may whisper in signs, but only the committed
hear them clearly.
“Success doesn’t come when you ask it to. It comes when
you prove you deserve it.” So don’t just wait for destiny to arrive. Knock
on the doors.
Build new ones if you must. Work until your effort echoes
louder than your luck.
So the next time you wonder if success is written in the
stars or carved with your hands
Look in the mirror.
And then show up. Again. And again.
Even when your Mind whispers, “Is it worth it?”
You reply,
“It will be.”
